On point, as usual, reworking the mighty sound of the end of the 90s, –the golden era of techno and trance anthems, UMEK and his label (1605) are excited to present a 2020 rework of a \’90s classic track \”Calling Earth\” by Yves Deruyter

This track \”was originally released in early 2000 and was something of an anthem in what some describe as a defining generation of clubbing that laid foundations for the explosion of electronic music in today\’s culture.\”

One of the artists who were prevalent at that time, UMEK has remained one of the most iconic artists in techno culture, and takes pride in reinvigorating the track for a younger generation of clubbers who might not be familiar with the original.

This rework is made with a nostalgic love for the original and pays homage to what made it stand the test of time while also allowing it to stand strong against newer tracks with bigger production due to two decades of technology developments and quality of sound for example.

Punishingly hard with it is thumping kick drum, it\’s instantly got a richness that delivers a whole new level of intensity. With rolling snare fills, grinding bass textures and the originals iconic melody, it leads towards the main breakdown with each unfolding section adding to the building suspense.
For those already familiar with the original, this is a great way to revisit fond memories of years gone by, and for those new to the track… you are in for a treat!

Let\’s talk about Raul Alvarez, a sound engineer and producer with several releases on diverse international labels such Toolroom, ARTS, Elektrotribe or Symbolism to name a few. His music evolves from an old school background to an experimental and futuristic approach.

Now, he arrives to his own label 2RB Records to celebrate the 50th release with a very interesting new EP of 5 tracks (the original plus 4 powerful remixes) titled \’It‘s Time For A Revolution\’. The original mix has a very nice and heavy atmosphere of dramatic sounds well played from a modular path.

The original speech was written by Raul in 2017 and recorded in a semi abandoned building in Berlin in 2018, percussion comes from a custom built Sonic Potions drum machine and the lead arpeggio from a modular DIY rack.

The original track is remixed by different madrilian Techno Punk generations, Magüu TDK is one of the most representatives drummers of the Punk scene worldwide, with a career of more than 30 years and several records it\’s probably the one that can hold that speech from its core, releasing his first remix ever focused into club music. Surrounded by Nöle; Barro Records owner and 2RB Records & Opera 2000 founder _asstnt, they defined a record with 4 different cuts. The digital release also includes a 90‘s Rave edit.

2RB Records will release \’It‘s Time For A Revolution EP\’ on Vinyl on July 21st, 2020, and digitally on July 28th, 2020. Pre order: Bandcamp

With this release, Mørbeck show us his fresh techno music inspired in the 80’s and 90’s sounds of berlin. The EP contains four tracks and the four bring on acid an a hyper-formulated techno vision that goes beyond speed and hypnotic melodies.

\”First up we have title track ‘Berlin 95’, nothing less than a forward-thinking acid trance techno to get the heart racing and showcase Mørbeck in his production skills. The vibe gets heavier on ‘Melody Massacre’, a slow-burner featuring heaving percussion and snipped ethereal vocals and synth work which intoxicate the listener.

Frankfurt 2000’ is a swirling mass of shimmery percussion, employing those frantic synths which are synonymous with 90’s rave culture that Mørbeck is so inspired by. Review:  10/10 We highly recommend it,  this is a great release with nothing but only powerful techno rave tracks.

One of the releases of 2021 that definitely catches our attention is the latest remix compilation released in Vinyl by German duo SHDW & Obscure Shape in commemoration of the 5th anniversary of the label ‘From Another Mind’. The compilation features the remixes that nine hugely talented producers like Hadone, MRD, Stigmata, Exium, Héctor Oaks, Introversion, Ø [Phase] and DJ Boss have created on SHDW & Obscure Shape ‘Versionen 008’ tracks.

“The compilation sways between different strains of techno, from anthems to DJ tools, covering both modern and vintage to provide a diverse compilation that will no doubt be warmly welcomed by DJs and listeners alike”. Full details below.

Hello again friends, after a few days, it is very timely to return with a top notch music recommendation, in this case, i would define this kind of sounds, most of it, as experimental, but with the techno rhythms intensity. The conclusion of this alongside creation of melodies, results in an amazing batch of tracks.

To be exactly, we are talking about the forthcoming 9-track LP that is already cooked and announced to be released in Affekt Recordings this month. The landmark fiftieth release is a cassette and digital LP that has been entitled \”Moonlight Eruption\”. This upcoming album combines the production skills of label head Alex Dolby and fellow Italian Voyn, AKA Base Research, a very interest production project, their sound is unique and very dark, so lovely.

Reviewing the album, it stars with the \”dubby and atmospheric \”Orange Tool\” followed by the deep and broken beat of \”Base 02 Gamma\”. Next up is \”Step One\” that introduces an abstract techno style, where \”50\’s Boulevard\” and \”Step Two\” add some Detroit chords. Track six \”Risk Is Our Business\” is the most uptempo and full throttle effort on show, as \”Base 01 Beta\” draws back to a broken electro influence alongside the raw, analogue funk of \”Exotic Signal\” and the lush modular accents of \”Moonlight Eruption\” closes out the LP.\”

The release date has been scheduled for December 12, 2019 in Cassette & Digital via Affekt Recordings. Stay tuned and check below for full details.

With great enthusiasm we share this news, since it is derived from the release of a new album, loaded with the darkest and purest techno, just as as we like it. Let\’s talk about Developer´s upcoming album to be out on Modularz this month.

The album has been entitled \”Sangre por oro\” which translates to Blood for Gold, and it is described as a full-bodied album, with each track highlighting the different complexities of where techno can go and take you. In few words, this album is a real look into the mind of Developer.

\”Some of the standout tracks from the album include „Risky“, the opening tune, with its hypnotic groove and crafty synth work to introduce you to the next 67 minutes of Techno in the purest form. „24hrs in Beijing“ manifests the producers dark side, as it acts as a metaphor for the organized chaos and overwhelming nature of the city within a 24hr period. It\’s menacing and brilliantly written it really brings the experience of overexposure alive and moving at a faster pace a reality.

Halfway through the album „Over Cold Seas“, a very deep and emotional track which infects you with nostalgia and yet its pure art with the dark racing undertones moving you onward. Cultivation, an outstanding piece of techno that nurtures the use of an off-note melody to bring a space fueled, dramatic ending to the album.

\”Sangre por oro\” is set to be released on Vinyl and Digital formats on the 24th of April 2020, on the Modularz label. Below you can listen to the snippets. Scroll down for full album details.

Overview. History _ its evident that Developer has been unstoppable over that last decade, but it‘s been an even longer time ago that Developer got his start as a DJ back in 1992 where he started djing in the backyard party scene then moving to a residency on 88.7fm Radio then eventually becoming a fixture in the Los Angeles underground warehouse scene playing alongside many of the worlds techno elite and organizing events throughout the 90s into the 2000s. In 2009 Developer retired from events and then converted Modularz from event organizer group to a techno label and began releasing his own music eventually making his way into europe and onto the world. The Album _ Sangre Por Oro, which translates to Blood for Gold, is a full-bodied album, with each track highlighting the different complexities of where techno can go and take you. The whole-room experience that he creates through his tracks high- lights his ability to unify techno lovers, all under one roof.
