Overview. UMEK is back on his label 1605 with a two track EP made in collaboration with Cosmic Boys and Teenage Mutants.
1605 was relaunched in 2019 and since then it’s become a powerhouse of the techno genre with two of the label’s recent releases both currently placed inside Beatport’s Top 10 Sales Chart.
Based in Slovenia, UMEK boasts a career than spans over two decades, and his back catalogue includes many iconic anthems that have spanned generations. In recent times his music can be found on labels like Intec, Suara, Tronic and Filth on Acid.
Teenage Mutants recently dropped a solo EP on 1605, and this time the German duo are back working in collaboration with UMEK, but their solo music can also be found on other high-flying labels such as Terminal M, Noir Music, Set About and Octopus Records.
Cosmic Boys are making their debut on 1605, and their collaboration with UMEK is the perfect way for them to become a part of the label’s family. Hailing from France, the Cosmic Boys are rapidly rising through the ranks of the world’s techno community with notable releases on their own Legend imprint plus others including Popof’s label Form.
“Evolution” made in collaboration with Cosmic Boys opens the release, and it features UMEK’s trademark groove with pulsating synths and rolling percussion. Drawing you in with alluring vocals and hints of euphoria, it’s the perfect blend of dark and light as the shadowy atmosphere is both dark and intense.
Second of the tracks made by UMEK and Teenage Mutants is the high velocity cut “Feels Like A Tunnel”, which has dramatic synths that burst forth from the frantic melody, which gives the track and underpinning sense of urgency. Filter sweeps add to the suspense before each drop unleashes its fury upon the dance floor.
Peak time techno made for the club, this EP is everything fans have come to expect from UMEK and his label 1605.
A few weeks ago, we make an announcement, the talented Italian producer Mattia Saviolo landed on Umek’s label 1605 delivering a phenomenal ‘Until The End Part’ EP. The release was a success and picked up the support from many influential DJ’s, of course including UMEK himself.
UMEK’s label 1605 kick starts 2022 with a fiery two track techno release from Mha Iri. The new material titled ‘Open Up EP‘ is due out this Friday January 21, 22 digitally and we must recommend it. Stay tuned, full details below.(more…)
Review: With ‘Need A Connection’, Comic Boys managed to put out another powerful techno EP. In this release, you will find melodramatic sounds, dark whispers, and intense techno at its finest. This two-track bundle is a bomb with all the elements needed to put on fire the darkest dancefloors. Nice, as usual!
Overview. Cosmic Boys are fresh off their No.1 selling techno track “Evlolution” that was made in collaboration with UMEK, and are back on their own label Legend with a new two track EP.
Legend has been a regular platform for the Cosmic Boys own output, but their tracks and remixes can also be found on other notable imprints such as UMEK’s 1605, Simina Grigoriu\’s Kuukou and Oscar Aguilera\’s HE-ART. Adam Beyer also opened his recent live set for Cercle with Cosmic Boys track \”Arrival\” which was released on Legend.
Continuing to raise the bar with their peak time style of techno, Cosmic Boys are a French duo who have been building a steady momentum. The high energy tracks with compelling melodies and chunky percussion are an extension of their hybrid DJ sets, which blend synths and drum machines with loops taken from their favourite tracks. Making live edits on the fly, the pairs creativity knows no bounds and the two original tracks on this EP are testament to this.
The EP opens with the title cut “Fireworks” that blends a crunching kick drum with grinding bass tones and frantic melodies. Fast and furious with an epic breakdown, this enthralling cut delivers an intense dance floor experience that is perfect for peak time spins.
“Other Identity” is second on the release with its pulsating synths that swell with kinetic energy. Electrically charged and ready to take flight, the breakdown is a thrill-seekers dream as its synth line goes interstellar with pitched-up intensity that will have you gripping the edge of your seat with excitement.
Nothing better than follow a phantastic series of mixed artist releases when it comes to straight techno and a good label like UMEK’s 1605, that announced the third volume of its Desiderati series, and this new one features the label boss himself alongside Dok&Martin, Julien Earle and a collaboration between Uto Karem & Gaston Zani.
The label welcomes back the italian Dj and Producer Devid Dega for another release, this time putting out a 4 track release featuring a collab with Besty Fritz. The upcoming EP has been entitled \”Zero1\” and contains two fresh very energetic techno cuts, that also include remixes by Marcal, Marck D & Buitrago.
Devid Dega have a history and a career as a DJ and a Producer that has remarkable moments, as a producer, he has put his sounds on several established super labels like Marco Bailey\’s Mb Elektronics, Mauro Picotto\’s Alchemy, Christian Smith\’s Tronic, Uto Karem\’s Agile, Spartaque\’s IAMT, Sutter Cane\’s Driving Forces, Cristian Varela\’s Pornographic , D-Unity\’s Unity records and many more.
Devid open the EP with the collab track with Besty Fritz that has been entitled “Zero1” where the deep and euphoric sounds creates a very powerful bass hitting, very proper for a techno groove. Marck D and Buitrago worked on remix duties in this track, and added more hypnotic sounds and sharp rides to the rhythm of the original cut.
Lifting the energy for an explosive finish, Devid Dega\’s solo track “The Dark Knight” brings on the power and industrial soft sound to the EP. This track got remixed by Marcal, who has made a very good job on adding a rolling rhythm and a different kind of energy to the track. The work on this EP is very good.
Overview. Here is a fantastic new release from Devid Dega featuring a powerful original track in collaboration with Besty Fritz as well as an outstanding re-edit of his track The Dark Knight which was played by B-Traits on Radio 1.
