The name \”Piatto\” stands for a combo, that is the brothers Davide and Alessandro.
Since his childhood Alessandro follows his brother\’s group called N.O.I.A. that is probably the first Italian electronic band founded in 1978 by Davide Piatto and Bruno Magnani.
In those years Alessandro is acquainted with Electronic Music and New Wave starting playing drum machines and synths.
At the beginning of th
e 80\’s he produces demo tapes and starts to play live performances with various bands.
In 1986 he plays dj sets with a punk attitude then, later on, they will become more techno.
For what about Davide: \”Claudio \”Mozart\” Rispoli, Davide Piatto and N.O.I.A., Alexander Robotnik, DFC Team are perhaps the main characters of a new style of music that can be called \”Nouvelle Vague\” which has influenced the traditional idea of Dance Music. These people with their \”Homemade Production\” have managed to reach international hits of music by inventing their peculiar and stylish music.
D. Piatto can be considered an \”angry rocker\” of his town (Cervia);
He can be remembered with his group \”Rebels Without a Cause\” for his live concerts and his italian neorock style, both for the kind of music and the look […].
N.O.I.A. represented the isolationsm of the province, they used the first electronic machine, the analog synths, the ones that sounded just like a noisy bip but then will have become the stylistic mark of lisergic vision of acid house music; they used to play drum-machines that only Kraftwerk played at those times.
At the beginning of the 80\’s Davide Piatto makes in his small bedroom some intstrumental tracks that the world won\’t forget: they were few minutes of repetitive beat music recorded at a very low budget that became records named called Klein and MBO produced by Mario Boncaldo and Tony Carrasco.
Later on dJs from Chicago such as Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, Phuture, Farley Jackmaster Flash, will trasform this cool energy in a masterpiece like \”Love can\’t turn around\”.
House music found its origin, a new style of music was born, that is the remix and a new way of playing pop music. We can call it \”music for no- musicians, but only a turntable and a mixer that will have been the two main elements of the music of the future.
Davide, at those times couldn\’t imagine that his homely productions could then be considered precious cult music by DJ Hell, Knuckles and the Detroit producers Adult that asked Piatto to record N.O.I.A. unreleased tracks.
Taken from the book \”Last night a dj saved my Life\” Bill Brewster, Frank Broughton – Arcana Edizioni (2005)\”
At the beginning of the 90\’s Davide and Alessandro have started to collaborate together in studio and have begun to release records. They made a new N.O.I.A. album for the US label Ersatz Audio and started to collaborate with G.D. Luxxe as \”Raymond Barry\”. Their tracks were included in Pete Tong\’s playlist and Ivan Smugghe\’s compilation.
Soon afterwords they started an old project \”Funk Revenge\” and produced an album released by Cavernjatt owned by Blade \”from Jestofunk\”.
In 2005 they have started to collaborate with Dandi & Ugo, and they found together the record label \”Italo Business\”
In 2006 they collaborated with Franz & Shape and released the succeseful single \”The man who paid before\” for Relish which was included in Tiga\’s DJ set.
In 2008 they added to Italo Busines a new label, N.O.I.A. Records where they included a mixture of Indie Dance, New Wave and Techno Minimal music.
Nowadays \”Piatto\” continue on releasing tracks and remix for several labels reaching always good positions in the charts.

Something about Tiefshwarz:  Ali and Basti Schwarz – brothers and music lovers, created Tiefschwarz out of a passion garnered since 1990 from their first experiences as DJs at the now legendary clubs that Ali ran in Stuttgart \”ON -U\” (1990 – 1993) and \”Red Dog\” (1993 – 1997). These experiences and their obsession with the music they were hearing from within and across the German border, encouraged them to make the step from DJ to producer.
In 1996 Tiefschwarz was created and they began working together with acclaimed producer Peter Hoff in Stuttgart. After a few remixes, their first single \”Music\” was released in 1998 on Benztown and \”Wave Music\” NY. The success of the single motivated Tiefschwarz to record their debut album \”Ral 9005\” which came out on Four Music in 2000. \”Ral 9005\” was then seized upon by Derrick Carter & Luke Solomon for their Classic Recordings label in the UK in 2002. The album and the subsequent 4 singles (Thru a Little Window, Hello Again, Never, Nix) were received enthusiastically by both the English and international press, not to mention a growing fan base of music aficionados.

Biography of Kolombo:

Olivier Grégoire aka Kolombo hails from the city of Namur, in the South of Belgium where he\’s been djing for a long while as well as promoting highly succesful parties.  He has also been producing dance music since 2001but it took him a couple of years more to really master his art of modern production within many pseudonyms and dance music genres and a HUGE discography.

He came to international proeminence trough King Kong records (Sharam Jey\’s label) for which he\’s been producing many electro-house Eps with his partner Djerom under the name of Loulou Players. The pair went on to remix artists such as Darren Emerson, Joachim Garraud, Zoo Brasil, John Acquaviva or Remo feat Cheleonis R Jones and became a hugely influential dj duo in the South of Belgium, playing huge raves and festivals. Carried by this succes, Olivier founded his own label, naturely named Loulou records but then felt it was time to start producing alone and started recording under his soon-to-be-big Kolombo moniker.

He started to experiment new ideas and production techniques and made a mix between house, tech house & minimal and still with an club feel on labels such as Giant Wheel (with Ante Perry), Boxer, Hypnotic, Robotronic, Ladies and Gentlemen, Add2basket, Karate klub,…

He was also spotted by Systematic records boss, Marc Romboy who created a sub-division of his label to release his Kolombo material call Viceversa and got him to remix Systematic artists under his real name, Olivier Grégoire as well as a full solo Ep on Systematic.

He then hooked up with Belgian producer Compuphonic to release eps on Tiga\’s Turbo imprint for which he has also solo material lined-up. They also have remixed Cari Lekebush and the Presets (on Modular) and Martin Solveig.

As a side project he\’s also producing deeper music together with Belgian house dj veteran Geoffroy (Hi-Phen, Suicide, SSR) as Mugwump whose recent eps on Mood Music, Misericord (Ewan Pearson\’s label), Disco45 (Rob Mello\’s label) and Kompakt have been causing a stir (imminent Mugwump remixes and tracks on Kompakt, Cocoon, R&S, Gigolo, Eskimo)

The future looks bright with new material lined-up on Systematic, Turbo, Boxer, Hypnotic and many more as well as collabs n remixes all over with Compuphonic, Ante Perry,Oliver Klein, Mugwump and start a new deephouse projet with his cousin call Family Stuff…

Biography of Guy J:

After setting the scene alight with numerous killer singles, Israeli producer Guy J releases his hotly anticipated full length artist album with label heavyweights, Bedrock Records.

Guy J has emerged over the course of the last two years to represent an intrinsic part of the Israeli dance music juggernaut that has been steadily powering through clubland in recent times. Along with fellow countrymen Guy Gerber, Sholmi Aber, Chaim and Gel Abril, Guy has been at the forefront of a movement back towards the melody rich sounds on which House music is based.

Guy’s productions, with their driving beats, shimmering synths and journey-like qualities, embody characteristics from all manner of House music. Guy states “I didn’t set out to write an album – I just wrote tracks when I was in different moods, hence each track having different types of genres, different influences.” He adds, “This is the album I wanted to make… it has a warm sound… it’s very sexy and really tells a story.”

On this, his debut artist album, Guy fully exploits the opportunity to explore the length and breadth of his creative capacity. Alongside the dance floor orientated cuts on which he has built his reputation, Guy straddles moods of ambient, techno and electronica whilst constantly maintaining a melodic and highly emotive core. Anyone who appreciated the majesty of Nathan Fake’s ‘Drowning in a Sea of Love’ will instantly feel at home with ‘Esperanza’, as would fans of the Kompakt or Border Community sound where the focus is first and foremost on musicality.

‘Indigo Fields’ opens up the album perfectly and immediately encapsulates the rich tapestry of sound for which Guy J is famed. Following on, ‘Nebula’ highlights the dancefloor focused underbelly of the album by marrying dark, driving bass with Chicago-influenced synth-stabs that leave you doubtless of Guy’s sonic capabilities. ‘Geko’ again picks up a strand of the classic house blueprint albeit this time in slower and more twisted fashion. Guy’s first single ‘Under Pressure’ appears on the album in a slightly more restrained album version. Flourishes of synthesis and noise appear and disappear as the track travels patiently through peeks and troughs of intensity.

By the time ‘Druma’ jerks into the frame you realise you are experiencing the work of a genuine musical talent. Epic slabs of sound are stacked atop glitchy lo-fi drums which results in a listening experience that simply swallows you whole. Closing track ‘Esperanza’ completes the journey and in archetypal Guy J fashion it’s a musically dense trip that is dynamic enough to keep you hanging until the very last beat.

Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha and Tiga are among Guy’s many supporters thanks to consistently releasing sterling tracks. In support of the album, the three singles ‘Under Pressure’, ‘Geko’ and ‘Mirko’ are all being released through Bedrock Records in the coming weeks and months.

What is without question is that Guy has managed to produce an album that is brimming with soul, a feat which an artist can toil for an entire lifetime hoping to achieve.

Something about Brodinski:

\”Brodinski is the most exciting dj and producer to explode onto the scene in recent years. Yes, he may hail from France (Reims, Lille) but he is quite unlike any of his Parisian peers. His taste in music is broad and this is reflected in his own productions and dj sets which may encompass noisy techno, bass heavy house through to more melodic minimal. His programming is impeccable and he plays with such spirit that his 6\’2\’rame jerks and bounces when he gets excited by a track (yet he is neveruelled with anything more than Fanta Lemon!). The hot fuss started with his debut track Bad Runner which leaked onto blog sites months before it\’s release on Mental Groove in October 2007. Supported by everyone from Soulwax, Tiga, Chloe, Erol Alkan, A Trak, Busy P, Switch and Laurent Garnier the track peak time techno with Martian\’s yakking through it was one of the sleeper hits of the year. When it was eventually released the subject \’Bad Runner\’ had garnered over 3500 views on Erol Alkan\’s forum, people just couldn\’t wait to get their hands on it. The flipside Solaris was a more subtle and seductive slice of techno. At the time Brodinski told FACT magazine that he would like to record for both Erol Alkan and Damian Lazarus\’ labels and this record seemed to sum up that ambition. Since Bad Runner Brodinski has remixed Bonde de Role, Klaxons, Das Pop, Shoes, D.I.M, Heart Revolutions and Adam Sky. Each remix has had a different approach, from the acidic (D.I.M), to vocal techno (Das Pop) to melancholic end-of-nighters (Klaxons). This May he has two releases readied to rock the summer: Gold-digger which is a primitive house groove with ululating sirens and vocal gruntsollowed by an as yet untitled techno bomb. Brodinski has already been championed by Radio Soulwax, Tiga\’s Turbo and Bugged Out who have all already offered him multiple gigs and festival slotsor 2008. Expect to be hearing a lot more about Brodinski this year and beyond!\”(Annie Mac)

Biography of Jesper Dahlback:

Jesper Dahlback is one of Sweden’s leading DJ/producers with a lengthy backcatalogue to his name. Recent productions include collaborations with Alexi Delano, Jori Hulkkonen, Tiga, Adam Beyer as well as remixes for the likes of Rex the Dog, Zoo Brazil, Arnaud Rebotini of Black Strobe, Thomas P Heckman, Pan Pot, Len Faki. Production also ranges into Tiga remixes of Depeche Mode, The Prodigy and LCD Soundsytem  as well as remixes of Robyn and The Knife together with his cousin John.

Jesper has music in his genes – his grandfather, father and uncle are all musicians as are most of his cousins – but it was the musical movements in Detroit, Berlin and London that inspired him to start producing techno, back in 1991 in his bedroom studio. Completely hooked, by 1993 he’d formed the Stockholm-based Globe Studios together with Peter Benisch and Adam Beyer following a chance meeting on the train to Love Parade.

In 1996 Jesper started the imprint, Blank, mainly for his own material, and simultaneously launched joint venture DK with Thomas Krome – one of the first labels in Sweden with a techno house crossover approach and the home of producers Alexi Delano, John Sealway, Jori Hulkkonen and DJ Sneak, to name a few.
In addition to making music for various techno labels around the world and working with Planet Rhythm, Jesper met up with Swiss-born Stephan Grieder who had just started the Svek label. The duo started to experiment with different sounds, drawing on house music’s roots, utilising vocals and acoustic instruments.

Jesper now describes his sound as “ranging between the analogue sounds of the roland sh101  and the precision mathematics of my computer. I’m a researcher and developer of unheard sounds! Since the founding of Globe Studios, I have always been looking for new ways to bend the rules and test the unknown. When I DJ, I just play my own productions blending old classics with new unreleased demos.”

A producer first and foremost, Jesper‘s DJ dates find him weaving a soundscape of his productions, remixes and collaborations with new material at every gig, as well as musical elements and sounds worked through the set. “The most exciting element is that there’s no genre boundaries in the music I make today. I like exploring different territories in sounds and breaking new ground. Sometimes I work only with my synthesizers, sometimes on collaborations with other people playing instruments or on vocals.

Jesper is now also running his new label called International Sound Laboratory or just ISL. The label is part of the new movements bringing techno and music production in to the new century. So far artists like Alexi Delano, Tony Rohr, Cari Lekebusch, Jori Hulkkonen and  Jesper himself has produced material for the label. The imprint works as a experimental platform for the new era in techno music.
