Italy’s yofellas are a highly respected duo of electronic music producers that show off their harder side with a new techno-focused single called ‘Faida‘.
Most people know yofellas for their house music tracks such as “Lost On You” which charted Top 10 in the UK, as well as being a hit in many other countries.
“Faida” is a lot darker and more aggressive than their usual output, due to its raised tempo. The techno orientated percussion and confrontational vocal sample are also in stark contrast to the pop friendly undertones of their previous releases.
The track comes via Clif Jack’s record label MJA the Vision, and the vocal sample is taken from a classic track by Italian hip hop legend, Frankie hi-nrg mc.
A solo track release, “Faida” opens with a bass-heavy kick drum and fast-paced hi-hats as the groove starts to unfold. Brooding atmospherics fill the track with dark tension, as Frankie hi-nrg mc’s vocal booms over the percussion and melody synth. The brutality of the drums subsides in the breakdown, which is characterised by uplifting pads. When the drums slam back in, the track steps up its energy to create a powerful moment of dance floor impact.
