Patrik Widmer is an emerging artist who has been turning heads as a producer, and his new release on Plastic Toys features two peak-time techno tracks showcasing his usual style which blends twisted euphoria with driving percussions and dark atmospheres.
He made his debut release on the Plastic Toys record label in 2022, and is now back on the imprint with a follow up single called Touch My Soul. He has also featured original music on other record labels including rise&shine and Sonaxx Records.
This release orientates around Patrik Widmer’s track “Touch My Soul” where the original mix is in a similar style to other producers such as Space 92 and UMEK. There is also the acid focused ‘Rave Mix’ that’s reminiscent of people like ASY*S and T78.
First up is the pulsating bassline and hard-hitting kick drum of the “Touch My Soul” original mix, which opens with a suspense building intro that has an acid bassline and pounding percussion wrapped in dark atmospherics. The track’s namesake vocal sample adds sensual tones to the tantalising breakdown, which reaches its crescendo just before the drums hit back in.
The ‘Rave Mix’ has a pumping bassline and bigger focus on the percussive framework that’s been built to propel the hulking acid line that drives this version.
