Component is an Irish techno artist who presents a new album called, Plan G. The album contains thirteen raw and experimental tracks that have peak time energy and intense atmosphere.

The release layers modulating synths and gritty percussion with an eerie atmosphere to create compelling tracks that are perfect for the dance floor, but they also have enough intricacy to have home listening appeal.

A number of tracks on the release also utilise euphoric synth riffs and emotive vocals to create moments of uplifting bliss.

Plan G is the brainchild of Ger Gleeson, who is the man behind the Component alias and record label, with the same name as his music making pseudonym. The album is out on his own label, but his music can also be found on other record labels including the likes of Gobsmacked Records, ITU and Archivio 01.

“A Hero’s Journey” opens the release with breakbeat percussion and moody atmosphere before the trippy vibe of “Still Remember.” “With Me” has a stabbing bassline and emotive vocals, which after the breakdown, turns to a more percussive groove. “Detroit Fairground” is a menacing track with dark intensity that contrasts against the haunting vocal and rippling synths of “Set You Apart.”

“Are We Dreaming?” is machine driven techno with an ominous vibe, and “On Rotation” continues the same mood, but with a slightly deeper atmosphere. “Taking Off” is the hardest and most industrial track on the release, and “Your Hidden Light” pays homage to classic trance with a truly epic hands-in-the-air breakdown. “Dusk” raises the intensity with frantic synths sequenced into a hypnotic groove, then “You Don’t Know Grime” is a digitised track with a demented melody underpinned by fast-paced percussion.

“Anarchy in the IRE” is the penultimate track, and it’s an old-school rave cut with hardcore breakbeats and party-starting synth chords. This track is quite different from the rest of the release, but it’s a nice way to switch things up before the ghostly aesthetic of “Trill,” which brings the release to a close with a hypnotic slice of atmospheric techno.

There are lots of gems on this release, and a few curveballs to ensure there is never a dull moment.
