Boom Merchant’s new release, The Question, is a tribal techno track with a deep atmosphere. The B-side is an up-tempo remix by Homma Honganji, who raises the BPM and adds more intensity to the drums.

This is a release with contrasting moods, as the A-side original mix is defined by the loose flow and organic sound of live percussion creating a tribal energy. The flip side is much darker and tightly sequenced into a machine-driven groove.
The release comes via Tribal Pulse, which is the record label Boom Merchant runs as a main outlet for his tracks, but his music can also be found on other labels such as T78’s Autektone Dark. He is originally from Ireland, but recently relocated to Mexico, where he has been connecting with his North American fan base through regular DJ shows in the region.

Homma Honganji is a Japanese artist who is no stranger to Tribal Pulse, and his remix is everything that fans of the record label would expect from him. His peak time sound has also been released by the likes of Dolma Red and Rawsery.
First up, the original mix of “The Question” combines live congas and soulful vocal snippets that are underlined by a brooding bass synth that creates tension as the track develops. Second on the release, Homma Honganji’s remix of the single track, adds a thick synth bassline and heavy chords that complement the vocals and deep pads of the original.
Both versions have their place on the dance floor, and you can buy a copy HERE.
