Review: Angelo Currao’s Sinister Visions EP features two original cuts of silky techno. Both originals showcases nothing but dark and sinister grooves, very hypnotic and mental melodies persuaded by magical synths and friendly percussions. This is definitely a strong and well-crafted release.
Distrackt Records drop their first release of 2021 with Angelo Currao’s new EP titled ‘Sinister Visions’ to be released on February 12th. Currao is no stranger to the Irish techno imprint, having debuted on the label back in 2017 with his excellent On The Plane EP. Sinister Visions shows a maturity of sound from the Dublin based Sicilian, containing two original cuts of silky techno, and features a driving remix from Distrackt capo’s Brotherhood of the Wolf.
Tracks Description.
Sinister Dance: A heavy kick drum rides over the rumble of a subsonic bass, bright pads contrast dark twisted synths and stabs, eerie piano chords maintain the pace throughout.
Rainy Days: Relentless percussion of hats and shakers providing the building blocks that bring Rainy Days to a crescendo, an evolving bassline peaks alongside complimenting synths that capture the essence of the track.
Sinister Dance (Brotherhood of the Wolf remix): Swinging driving perc driven grooves, a powerful sub bass, hypnotic synth hooks and stabs, subtle use of pads all combine to reveal Brotherhood of the Wolf’s sinister vision of Angelo’s original idea.
