Marco Passarani’s musical legacy is well established, as a label head, an importer and distributor, an inspirational producer and a DJ with a supernatural ability to fuse techno, funk and boogie into kinetic and transporting sets. With his own Final Frontier stable of labels in the early ’90s, he forged longstanding ties between Rome and musical metropoles like Detroit, Rotterdam and Glasgow. The rich history of his own releases ranges from his debut on Detroit’s Generator in 1993, to 2001’s “Phonok” release on Skam Records, with an Autechre remix, and his landmark 2005 LP Sullen Look on Peacefrog, which included covers of Alexander O’Neal’s “Criticize” and a vocoded electro version of the Jungle Brothers’ “I’ll House You.” More recent releases include “Flora,” with Venezuelan artist Sacco on Desolat, which was remixed by Ricardo Villalobos, and the \”Analog Fingerprints vol 1 EP\” on Glasgow\’s renowned Numbers. Notably, over the last decade he’s made waves as one half of Roman boogie duo Tiger & Woods, together with Valerio Del Prete, excavating layers of funk within pre-existing grooves, and exploring new loopbased tangents. Their releases include two albums, on Running Back and T&W Records, and as steadily touring live performers and DJs they’ve appeared at venues such as Fabric and Plastic People (GBR), Berghain and Robert Johnson (DEU), Womb (JPN), Output and Smart Bar (USA), Paradiso (NLD), Goa (ITA), and Space and DC10 in Ibiza, as well as countless festivals including Sónar (ESP), Coachella (USA), Let Them Eat Cake (AUS) and Piknic Electronik (CAN).
